Dear Church Family –
It’s Valentine’s Day! Let’s take a moment to praise God for marriage.
My marriage to Judith has made me a far, far better man.
· She grounds me when I tend to be flighty and spontaneous.
· She helps me think well through decisions, and difficulties, and opportunities.
· She is an amazing encourager! She knows what to say to comfort and encourage me, and she knows when and how to say it.
· She is also a marvelous corrector. Just as with encouragement, she knows when and how to speak a word of caution or correction.
· Just like it takes two wings for a plane to fly, it take both of us in marriage to keep each other balanced, and to provide lift in life. Without Judith, I’d be flying in circles.
· She is a great life companion, sharing the joys and sorrows, and adding goodness and grace to every day.
· She draws me up to higher thinking and better living.
Marriage is one of God’s greatest gifts.
· Marriage is the closest and most basic relationship in which to practice living the principles of Christ’s kingdom.
· Marriage is the foundation for practicing Christ’s principles in other areas of life.
· Marriage reveals an out-of-balance life, or a poorly developed spiritual life.
· A good marriage frees a couple to happily give time, energy, and money to help others. Serving in a ministry together is often a marriage-builder, and a source of joy and satisfaction.
· A good marriage is a shelter in life’s storms and gives strength to persevere.
“The Lord your God is with you; he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
“As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you;as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.” (Isaiah 62:5)
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
Happy Valentine’s Day. See you Sunday! – Pastor Tim
